While in a nearby town on a short trip the other day my brother and I saw and stopped for a closer inspection of this brute.
Looks to be a 300 horse that fought the good fight throughout its life.

What kind of engines did the 2870 have? Looks like it was a pretty spiffy model when new.

That is a sad sight to see. I ran one of these great tractors for an old neighbor back in the 1990's. Great tractors! I just don't understand how people can just park them and let them rot away like this. Kow Farmer Kurt

I see a winter project in your future, but it may look a bit strange with your 2 Bottom plow hooked onto it.

Neighbor had a 2870 sitting on a farm that caught fire. Burned the cab and middle of the tractor. Melted a hole in the rear valve cover and water got in. Was there a long time but disappeared a couple years ago.

My 4568 would out pull it but the
2870 was sure nicer to run

Construction company left it there about 10 years ago. I think it has major engine or transmission issues as it hasn't moved in those 10 years

Thank you guys for the replies. Sounds like that tractor is a candidate for a super case mechanic with buckets of money. (certainly not me!)

That's a shame. Where is it located? I might be interested in it for parts if not too far away. I'm in NW Minnesota. Here is mine. She is the big dog on the farm now.

I agree its sad to see stuff rotting away. I know its hard to afford repairs some times but gee-wiz a 2870 isnt just some other tractor

Scania. (Swede) Might be wrong, but my old brain says 674cuin,no oil filter,(has a oil cleaner you wash out) I sold 2 new ones in my history
