found under the work bench

While cleaning out a shed on an old farm stead, I found, along with some other things, two JD plow shares. I measured them as 14 inches and they have never been in the ground after they were repointed. They have had new points welded on them and they look like new. They have one mounting bolt hole and a finger to hold them on so I assume their for an early 2-14 pull type.
Only markings are DEERE 217 U. If someone knows what they fit they would sure dress up a collectors plow. Im in North East Kansas.

I'm pretty sure that 217 is a lefthand plowshare. I just purchased a used set of 218 bc, for a john deere model 4b. I paid $60.00 for the set. Ellis

They'll bring $100 each to the right person. I put some on ebay -used brought over $100 each plus shipping.

Gee I'll have to check. I didnt even think about left or right and didnt check. I think they do throw to the right, though now you make me wonder. Gives me a reason to go to the barn after services tomorrow and see.

I think they are right hand and a 12" share. That sounds like the number without checking on the shares I had for a 12" plow.

I was raised on a farm 6 mi N/E of Holton and now live 1 mile further east. I've been going to ask you to post pictures of you CC, as dad owned one in the late 40s. I never saw it for I was born in 54 and I think dad traded it for a WD in 51. I've looked at a lot of tractor gatherings and have been able to find RC's and DC's but no CC"s. My brothers spent a lot of time in the field with dad, sitting on the tool box straddle the steering shaft. I've heard many stories about the old girl so I wanted to see one. I checked they are right handed ok but not knowing how to measure for sure I layed them on a 2x10 with the shin lined up with the edge then went down the plank until across from the tail edge and measured across the plank at the furtherest part of the cutting edge. Measures just over 14in. that way???

They are very hard to measure, Just thinking what I might remember but if I could find my plow bottom book it would tell.
