Fourth crop hay bales

I made some square bales of fourth crop alfalfa hay recently. I took a few pics to share with you folks.
My neighbor is driving my 3010 pulling the New Holland super 69 baler. I am stacking bales on the rack. The baler was rebuilt a year ago with new plunger bearings and wedges in the bale chamber. No more banana shaped bales. It is making great bales now. Fwiw the tractor, baler and I are all roughly the same vintage!

has been warm last couple days here in far sw wisconsin. enjoy the pictures of older equipment working as I have older equipment. My newest tractor is 71 1655 Oliver.

Nice work , I like to know how heavy are the bales of alfalfa?

Slightly more vintage as far as the operator, but very similar vintage equipment. Oliver 1650, NH 273 baler, AC 78 rake, 2 NH wagons and an IH that's probably older than me.

Must be nice to be able to bale dry hay this time of the year. Up here in the great white North there are two reasons you cant make dry hay in September. - first is almost impossible to get it dry as the days are so short with pretty much every morning a heavy dew, and the old man always told me never cut alfalfa after the first of Sept. if you want a crop next year. I broke his rule once and found out the hard way he was right.

Nice work , I like to know how heavy are the bales of alfalfa?

I didn’t weigh any bales but it took a day for me to recover from getting them stacked in the barn! I think there were a few over 50#. Mostly 40-50 though.
