fox's and coons

What will terminate coons and fox's with prejudice?
The link_disallowed and coke for possoms is on my shopping
list. Are chickens are getting decimated and the
foxes keep showing up.

When I have issues with Tom cats marking up everything I mix up some cheap canned cat food and that fly bait. They don't make it a yard from the bowl.

Fly bait and cheap canned dog food. Pen up everything you want to keep for the night. If it eats it there will be no turning back.

If you don't like it kill it! I hope you do not live anywhere near me. Poisoning, like bombing, is to indiscriminating and kills all. If someone's pet cat strolled by your poison they would become victims. Sounds a bit like animal cruelty to me.

Fly bait works for coons.

A have-a-heart trap will also work for coon, just dont let them get trap shy. You also have to remember, most states its illegal to let the coon out alive after you have trapped it, you are not allowed to drive it somewhere else to let it free.

A bucket set will also work pretty good for coons.

Fox, well they are a little harder to get. Try a hay bale set in the middle of a field with fox scent. 2 bales of hay in the field with a trap on it. Apply scent. Fox walks along and smells another fox, cant resist jumping up to sniff and use the higher vantage point to look around. Snap.

You can also use the chicken and fence post. Nail a chicken to the top of a fence post. Fox walks along and tries to jump up and grab the chicken. Little does he know, you placed a few leg hold traps at the bottom of the post. As he jumps up and down, he covers the area quite well and catches himself.

You can sit out all night and try to shoot them but traps hunt 24/7. Get a good nights sleep and kill the critters in the morning....

That's my mother about 10 years ago when we used to have yote problems and they were thick. We used to run them up into Michigan, and them fellas used to run them back down at us, pretty much like ping pong until between us over time, we thinned them out real good. If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it. That's Mom, one of her favorite .410s and a shot just above its shoulder. They made the mistake of running by a tool shed that she was setup in, and she made it count. Brings a tear to my eye. Yotes are not nice, especially in packs.

There's not another farm in this section. If someone's pet happens by its because they were rude enough to dump them. The only things I'm getting rid of are preditor animals after my livestock or things like Tom cats beating up on the good mouser cats I have here. This isn't a petting zoo. Everyone around knows - if you see my dogs causing trouble on your farm you can shoot first and ask later. They know I will do the same. It is respect for all of the animals around here that keeps me getting rid of coyotes, coons, and yes, even stray Tom cats. If animals weren't in our blood we wouldn't live with livestock. That doesn't mean it's a free-for-all here.

talk to your local conservation clubs and trapper associations.
You'll get a lot of interest from REAL trappers that are always having trouble finding places to trap.
For yourself, if you live in a state that still has any freedom
and is remote and rural,
go to war with them. Foxes and other predators are smart.
drop enough of them, and constant pressure, even if you 'miss'
and they will find another, more friendly home.

Re trapping and releasing: Don't know what the law is here and not going to get into it, BUT, saw on another forum where someone trapped an animal, probably raccoon, spray painted him, took himm 10 miles away, released him, raccoon made it back in short order. I wouldn't appreciate an animal being released on me, if you trap it get rid of it.

(quoted from post at 22:30:55 02/14/14) The fox trappers here in mid Mn. would all get a good laugh out of your methods.

They can laugh all they want, Im not doing it for style, Im doing it to eliminate problem foxes. With that goal in mind, its working out pretty well. But, by all means, tell you buddies and send them over. They can have any animal they want here: coon, cat, dog, fox, coyote, possum. I just do what works well and is easy to do but it they want to eliminate any work on my part at all, they can have at it.

Yep. I figure it was a follower in the pack. I was stunned, because yotes got great senses of smell and sight and there aint no way to get that close to them. But the smells and camo of the tool shed worked for her. She'd had enough of their boldness in looking for something else to take out and she setup and waited them out. They came yipping close enough by and she she sure got one.

People should keep their darn cats to home. This idea that it's fine to let animals roam at will, completely ignoring the wishes of your neighbors...that's whats cruel

my uncle was doing that and one turned around after he was released and came back an bit him. he had to do the rabies shots. he continued trapping but not releasing
