That is a real pedal tractor. Not only were they expensive but can you imagine
a little kid trying to move that thing?! Now and then a version of that toy
shows up at Hershey and in good shape there are lot of dollar signs.
 
Back when Cat was top of the line. That is an old ole girl with the spoke front idler.They went to solid ones either in the late 40's or 50's.
 
I was at an auction where one of those peddle "CATS" was being sold. The bid had reached $4,000 and the auctioneer was trying to get $4250 when a late arrival, accompanied by his young son bid 4250 and won the bid. The son climbed into the cat and began peddling it when suddenly the father pulled him of it and beat a hasty retreat. It seems that the father had thought he was bidding $42.50.
 
well into the late 50's the smaller Cats came with 2 options on the front idler. A smaller spoke one for agricultural use and a larger solid one for the dozers that had a blade, it reduced the rock and rolling due to the blade weight
