front hub broken studs

well still cant get those out by using an air hammer, a BFH or a lil propane torch guess need to take hub off and get it pressed out. Machine shop said they could do it but will not guarantee not to crack or break the hub said it was very brittle. if i take them off i should replace the cones and seals while its off right? does anyone have any cheap hubs for sale by chance?

Buy a new hub from our sponsor. I believe they are in the $60 range. They work well.

As to the seals, if they don't leak I would leave well enough alone, and if they do, then get your puller out and go to to town. If early 8n you have one seal per axle. If later 8n you have two. Check the manual. While down there I would pack the bearing with grease if it is still salvageable. If not, remove the bearing or, more likely, have someone else do it.

Also, use John Smith's 8n site for some visual learning if you need it.

Check and make sure some one hasn't welded them on I have seen that more then once and if so most likely you need a new hub since the reason most weld them on is because the hole has been enlarged and will not hold the press fit stud in place any more

i've never seen a front hub on a 2wd ford i could not cut a broken studd off flush and drive out. some times people weld the back a bit. if so.. grind it out and punch it out.. or at worst.. drill it out.
