Front Idlers wear

How much side movement is permissable in the idlers on a D4 ? What would be considered to be excessive
and should I shim them up very firmly?
The track chains are extended /stretched out to the max. Can I take out one link to give better tension on adjustment side? The sprocket still looks as if it has plenty left in it and rollers are ok. The rest of under carridge look pretty good too.
Can any body give me some advice Thank You.

if it is side movement you can remove soem shims or if the side plates are worn you can weld in the same strip it calls for to take out the up and down play. Yes you can remove a track link.you need to have someone look at your undercarriage you may need the idlers built up that can be done with the still on the machine

Sounds to me like you either need the pins and bushings either turned if they can be or replaced. Taking a link out isn't the proper repair. As the pins and bushings wear the chain pitch changes, this will cause the chains to bind on the sprocket causing excessive wear there.
