I need to ask if there are kits for rebuilding dist. that come with all the screws and copper strips etc and not JUST the points and condinser etc. Maybe I am looking in the wrong spots for them ya tink? Thanks Devious

I "tink"you should click on the Parts in the upper left hand corner of this page and find whatever you want.Real easy?ya tink?---lha

Well I DID go thru the parts on the left side again for the third time and still did not answer my question about the screws for the points base so maybe someone will come by with a place THEY know of to get them. I need a couple or three of screw sets to rebuild some distributors I have for three motors. I think if I paid 40 plus dollars for the distributor plate with points that I might get the screws but that is kinda dumb on my part I would think. What do you think 1ha? Devious

The breaker point mounting screws are New Holland Part #57683S36, a bit pricey at nearly a buck-and-a-half at the dealer.

However, there's nothing "magic" about them, and you should be able to buy them at the hardware store, or from an electronic supply house.

Here's the "specs", according to New Holland parts on-line: Screw, Pan Hd, W/Washer, G5, #8-32 x 1/4", Breaker to Plate.

I ASSUME the term "washer" means they have a captive "star washer", but an off-the-shelf screw with a lockwasher added should be just fine.
Where to look up NH parts for yourself...

How about this part #, from Mcmaster-Carr...

(PERFECT match, but IS Phillips head, which shouldn't be a problem.)

I believe Bob has the best idea on the screws,Me,I just bought some 8-32 screws and cut them with a crimping tool.If Bob had told me that,I'd have 98 screws for future projects ,as I would have gone with that.---lha

Thanks for the info Bob. I agree I should be able to track some screws down at some hardware or fastenal place somewhere. Devious

I buy screws by the box but if you just need a few most hardware stores have all kinds of screws, pin, clips, springs etc that you can buy by the piece.

D I have about 40 of those screws, email me your mailing information and I will send you 10 at no cost. Bob in NC

You have to be careful with those screws that hold the points down , if they are too long they will hit the advance weights .

Like Bob said , a good pair of crimping pliers have threaded screw cutting holes that work really well . I keep a tackle box full of little screws just for projects like distributor rebuilding .

Dennis Carpenter's site would be a good place to look for special hard to find items.
