Started out with Bob's cap conversion ran it on points all was good so on to resolve an on going points issue...

I wanted to see how far off it would be if I set it up with the instructions either way I needed to find TDC... I removed the distributor cap then bumped the starter till I felt #1 coming up on compression stroke. I made rod to go thru #4 spark plug hole and set up a dial indicator on #4 exhaust to find where #4 exhaust valve was on the rock... once I found where it was dead nutz on the rock confirmed the dist rotor was pointing at #1 position then marked the crank pulley and timing cover used a side grinder to notch both parts for my TDC indicator to use with a timing light.

Valves looking in #4 spark plug hole, the exhaust valve is more accessible but it does not matter the exhaust are intake will do all you need to find is where it is starting to move up. To tell ya the truth I don't know it its an exhaust are intake it don't matter as long as #1 is at TDC either can be used to nail down #1 TDC...
I normally don't use the indicator I eyeball it but I want this one to be dead nutz to see where the timing was at by the Pertronix instructions...
It fired up put a timing light on it base timing was 6 deg. Total 22 deg its good enoufh for me cuzz I like 20 total I could be off 2 deg either way... Pertronix set up is very close
I used Pertronix 91247 12V igniter 11.

Belden spark plug wire set #700103
The wire set is for a 1970 chevy C10 V8 350... Two of the wires are a direct fit for cylinder #4 & 3 I had to cut and make short wires for #1 & 3... The good I have enoufh wires left over to do another conversion (customer is gonna pay for the set My cost $28)

... Next issue this is the one the starter ring gear slipped on the flywheel and I welded it on thru the starter hole... If you have to crank on it long it sounds like someone is hitting the case with a hammer if it starts up no noise at all no oil leaks no smoke a nice one owner 1947 2N... I am gonging to remove the stater tomorrow for a look if I don't see a issue button it up and move on it has great oil pressure and runs out great...

That being said some nice repairs how do you break a front wheel hub... It been welded all the way around...
