Front mount hydraulic pump removal?

MF 30 backhoe. My backhoe and FEL are weak and jerky. New filter and fluid. I suspect the front mount pump has gone out. Filter was full of junk from when the packing went out in the boom cylinder and I think it may have starved the pump to death.

I wanted to take this pump off to inspect it. I removed both the lines and the two bolts that bolt it to the frame but it won't pull off. It look like it has a splined shaft. Is it safe to pry it off the frame? Surely I don't have to pull the FEL off and unbolt the pully front the crank do I?

if you didn't have hoses/bolts off already I would suggest checking pump pressure at loader valve first, gives you some idea of what you are facing

Where the pump slides on the shaft-that is a spline. Nothing more than the two bolts holds the
pump on. Perhaps spline wear or rust is holding it up. The inner end of the shaft is a different
story, that is a left hand thread. Chuck

In addition to what supergrumpy suggests Could the relief valve be adjusted to increase your pressuremaybe some trash found its way under the valve seat. Pumps aren"t cheap!

Where would the relief valve be located? I haven"t had a chance to pry the pump off yet. Is it internal on the pump or is it something fairly accessible? If its some sort of spool valve, its very possible it has some trash in it given the junk I had clogging the filter. You aint kidding about the pumps being pricey. $450 to $500 bucks, ouch!

If you have original pump and control valve the relief is in the control valve. Look for some type of removeable plug. Once removed adjustment may require a flat screwdriver or allen wrench to adjust relief pressure...gary

Thanks for all the replies guys. I took the pump off.. it is a gear type with no internal regulator that I can find. There are two gears, one driven directly from the splined shaft and the other just along for the ride. The driven gear seems to have had some kind of protective/sacrificial sleeve around it that helps block it from pumping back into the surrounding case. Well, this got extremely hot and now this "sleeve" is ground up and dead. Does anyone know what Im talking about? (Im pretty sure I dont.) Anyway, Im thinking this is my problem... I think I found the pressure relief valve there next to the control levers for the FEL. Does this sound right? Thanks again for the help!
