Front mounted fuel tank

Is it common to run a fuel return line back to a front mounted tank? 2 gallon tank mounted below the level of the carb using a 4.5 to 8 psi electric pump.

I am running a Carter rotary vane pump, with a regulator set on 4 psi. I don't have a return line. I tried the cheaper pulsing type pumps but had lots of trouble with them burning out.

Thanks guys. I have a Carter pump also. Trying to get this motor to make some noise this week.
