Front tires on loader

Need to replace front tires on Ford 851 with Wagner loader. Tires are 6.50-16, 6 ply and rated load of 1610 lbs. Local tire stores, two of them, that deal in truck and tractor tires say they can get the 6.50-16, 6 ply with 1200 lbs load. I am thinking that 1200 lb load is not enough with loader. Has anyone else had this problem?

On my 841 I use truck tires that are 235/75R-16 radials and have done so for years. The sit wider and flatter so with the loader I have keeps it form digging in in soft ground and also works well on snow

Hello, I agree with old, Mine has 8 ply truck tires. You can lift 1500 pnds. and the tractor never moves -ed

on my 850 with superior loader.. i run truck tires.

on my other loader tractors.. I tossed the tri ribs and went to multi ribs.. 8ply minimum.... 6.5-16

Now what do you all recommend for my 74 3000 w/FEL.

Currently have 7.5X15 tri rib on one side, truck tire making do (w tube) on other. Both rims are pretty crappy, lots of welds and bunch of rust. One of the things up for changing out when I get her split is those rims.

Suggestions on size?

If you're replacing the rims as well, go up to 16". Then you can get cheap (free, some places) used load range E pickup tires, if that's what you want to run. I don't run them, or even multi-ribs on my loader tractor, as I'm in clay, and any time it gets wet, I need the extra steering traction a 3-rib gives. 3-ribs work better when that tractor is on the mower, too. Go with 8-ply. That will be heavy enough for a 3000 (or a 4000 SU) with a loader. Probably 7.50's... any wider and they may not clear your spindles. I'm probably going to step up to 10 ply on my 4600... I've ruined too many 8-ply when I'm loading high moisture bales and 5'x6' dry bales...

You can go back with the 15 inch rims and tires and then use good used truck tires like I do or go with the 16 inch rims and do the same thing. If you have the trouble with clay just use the All terrain type tires.

Also if you look in the archives I posted a couple pictures the other day of a 3000 ford that has extra wide tires on it because it does have a loader on it just not right now due to a bolt the broke off and I get the fun of fixing that problem also

Appreciate all the advice. Am looking to replace the rims, just not sure about cheap availability of 16" tires for it.

Have some time to make mind up though.

Thanks all
Mikey

The 1200 lbs. load range tires are more than adequate.

Your front axle is not designed for such loads.

Echoing Dean's comment.
If those tires won't hold up you shouldn't be there.
(pot calling the kettle black in my case)
