Front weight differences

Why the difference in these two weights?
They have the same casting part number
Are they made in different places

Seems odd to me that they would have the same casting numbers. One would think they should at least have
different suffix numbers. All that to say, I don't know.

I don't know either.
I have 3 of the type with enclosed slots
here.
And I have had this dealer literature for a
long time and never noticed it has the open
type slots on it.

Interesting they must have changed when the sheet metal update happened also on the 66 model I mounted them flat side up so the grill was easier to remove

Yeah,Bern, I had to copy the photo then rotate it to see for sure if p/n was same, suffix obvious a 'B'. Usually when a part is changed a suffix gets added or changed too. Both have the same part number cast raised as C (or G?) NN-8A370-B. Does the '70' define it as a 1970 part? If I was to guess, I'd say the open slot style was the later one.

Nice looking paint job there on those weights UD. How many coats did it take to make them shine like that?

One coat of rustoleum primer and 2 coats of tractor enamel - all with a brush.
Cheap and effective.
I like to brush paint.
Not the tin but the rough parts.

Here's another one, same style as UD's, that is on my '68 4000. Don't know if it came with it or not. Didn't clean it much before treating it with a rattlecan. Only 30 years of weathered patina.

Tell us what the part number is - I can't read it but looks like no suffix letter??? An initial part or casting number always is is the A version, assumed if none is

LOVE the pedestal grinder with FORD paint scheme! DIY painting cast iron parts works best with a brush then can touch over with rattle can to mask any brush marks. You always do VG paint jobs Dogman...

After a bit of thought, the weight out front was not out front when I got the tractor. The casting number may have been damaged when it was in a prior position. I'm thinking I installed the current front weight with the recess in front to conceal the nuts and that the two weights behind it are solid. I haven't figured out the casting number.
