Front weights for JD630

I am looking to add some front weights to my 1959 JD630. I have seen some of the original front weights on eBay for ridiculous money. I have been trying to find a weight bracket that fits the tractor so that I could use suitcase style weights, but have not had any luck in the area. Does anyone have suggestions to add weight without spending a fortune?

All factory front weights for 2 cylinders carry many $$ signs. Be creative & make a bracket for front suitcase weights
or pay the fiddler. I purchased a Model 60 10 years ago that wasn't running & it came with J/D 3point & front weight for
600.00 bucks. They are not the correct weights for my 620 but I use them on it. Over the years I've purchased parts & pieces
of J/D weights for our 630 & 730. I seen a bracket on a 630 that someone made & it is molded to fit the tractor. Who ever
built it had talent & it looked great, sported a fold down hitch plate & could be used to push wagons, had a bottom to carry
a log chains & designed carry suitcase weights that didn't fall off.

Sounds like you want practical instead
of CP. I would suggest a visit to your
local scrap yard. Ask them about cast
iron weights and then if they have
something figure out a bracket to hold
them. It won't be very expensive if they
have something.

I have picked up a bunch of 20 pound
sash weights there as well as a couple
of round 100 pounders all with eyes to
hang them with. Also picked up a
rectangular 120 pounder which could be
drilled and mounted like the factory
weights. I had planned on doing just
that for my M but time went by and now
age has put a damper on that idea.
Grabbing hold of a hundred twenty pound
chunk of iron and going with it is in
the past.

Awhile back someone posted how to make an adapter plate to use the wrap around weights off a 3020-4020. They looked very nice. Or just go to a welding shop and have a nice bracket made for suitcase weights. Tom
