Front weights YM1802

I have a YM1802 and when I use my mower it makes the font wheels want to lift off. Likewise if I load up my transport box it can cause the front to lift too. I have fixed some concrete blocks to the front to help out, but these get in the way and I want to do something better. Can you recommend maximum weight I could hang on the front? Any good ideas for how I could do this?

Hang up to 200# of "suitcase" weights on the front bumper. Any tractor dealer should have them, (usually about 1$ per pound).

Norm is on the right track.

I went to a tractor dealer and asked about used weights. Mine stack up and I had to weld a small support bracket to the front frame to mount them (you may need something to hang suit case weights on too). Also, check on Craigslist for guys who are selling tractor weights and check for seasonal farm equipment auctions in your area.

I have a 1720-D and have the same problem. I had some 100lb weighs and it cured that problem but it broke the frame at the radiator drain and cross frame. Just keep in mind to watch the load it puts on the frame.

How many 100# weights did you use? The YM240 owners manual, (YM1700, 195, 2000), recommends 200#, (presumably spread across the bumper).

If you use the mower a lot more than the box, you could try letting the weight of the mower rest on its own wheels when mowing, and for transport putting just a bit of its weight on the hitch. And if the implement has any fore-aft adjustment, the further forward, the less it will lift the front.

I had the same problem. Bought a barbell & weights at a yardsale real cheap. I cut the barbell off & attached it to the tractor with 'U' bolts and added the weights.
