Fuel delivery

My Yanmar 1610D bogs down when I release the clutch and attempt to use my rototiller. I have a new fuel filter, no leaks, and good tubing all the way through. In 3rd gear it stalls when I lower the blades & 2nd gear barely moves and tries to bog. I have taken the 3 steel fuel lines that go to the fuel block apart, sealed any leaks and reassembled correctly, not losing the brass washer or the spring. When I rev the motor, it barely can get to 2000 rpm and struggles at 2500. Any ideas????

Questions, questions, questions. "When I rev the motor, it barely can get to 2000 rpm and struggles at 2500." Is this with the tiller engaging the ground? Are you running the tiller in the 540rpm pto setting? What size tiller is this? What brass washer and spring? What does the tractor do without the tiller? Really hoping these questions might help come up with a solution.

I have a similar issue. I have used this tractor for the past 7 years without an issue. This past weekend I pulled it out with a finish mower, a woods rm 59. It is just fine with the clutch in, but once I released the clutch it would bog down the tractor to the point it didn't want to keep running. It would pour black smoke and could barley get 1800 rpm's with the mower engaged.

I cant figure out what the issue is. It is getting fuel. I replaced the fuel filter, and bled the lines. Didn't really help. I couldn't test the pump, but it seems like it was getting fuel fine, but I don't know about the air flow/mix.

The tractor has worked fine without issue. Until now. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you all.

I did replace the air filter. I also tried it with out a filter to see if it was blocked, but it didn't make any change.

Winston, I'm with you, not enough info. Just got an RS1200 for my 1610D. With PTO at 540, range 1, gear 2, engine at about 2200, everything is hunky-doory. Occasionally hit some tough stuff and have to goose it momentarily to 2500, then back to 2200. Lots more info needed to T-shoot.

Probably stupid question but does your mower turn freely by hand before hooking up?

I did lift the mower and it turned freely. The tractor seems to run with the clutch pressed, but in gear or PTO active and it has the same issue.

Does something in the clutch or transmission seem to be binding up or is the engine just powerless?

Will it rev normally in neutral? Is the exhaust plugged?

The tractor revs fine and the throttle acts normal with the clutch is depressed. It doesnt feel like it is in the transmission or PTO but it could be. I dont know if the exhaust is plugged, it have plenty of black smoke when I engage the PTO or put any load against the motor. When it has no load it seems normal. Do you think it could be something in the head gasket? I don't have any white milky oil, but it did seem like I had to fill the radiator up and it sucked up the overflow bottle. I do only use water and not a mix. In the little red book it said not to use 50/50 or anti freeze. Could there be a stuck injector? The mower was just run in 540, with a new grease job and a not overly tight or binding belt. Is there a different fuel delivery under load? Could a spring stick or plunger not move freely? I really haven't been able to find any info on the fuel pump for the 1500.

Thank you all so much. I don't really know of a dealer near the Chattanooga area. I have only seen Texas where I have bought small parts from in the past. This site. Maybe some regualr tractor dealer? A john deere dealer? Since they use yanmar motors in their smaller units?

yes. the air filter is clean and new. I got new fuel, air, and oil filters in bulk when I placed an order. It is clean and good. I even tried it with out an air filter in case that was the issue. Still nothing.

I was scared to try and remove the muffler. I thought it may break off the bolts.

Get it hot and apply candle wax to the threads.

Trenton, GA, boy just down the hill from where I am in Lookout Mountian. I hope your place didn't get hit like mine by the tornado last week. Still working with the ins co to see if the house, barn, and garage will get repaired.

I'll warm it up and then put wax on. I was scared it would break the studs and then be in a real heap of trouble. Who do you use on your tractors on Trenton? Do you have a suggestion? Thanks.

Just got to the farm for the first time since the start of winter, found dead treelimb in front yard and tin roof partially blown off smoke house. There is nothing on my tractor I can't fix, (so far). There has been no answer to previous suggestions <E>:wink:</E> .

I was unable to un tighten the muffler bolts without fear of breaking them off. Does anyone know much about the fuel pump on these 1500's? It seems like it is not getting enough fuel when there is a load on the tractor. Is it possible that the pump is going bad? I could not find info on this unit. I didn't see it in the parts blow up in the parts section.

Try an pneumatic impact wrench on those tough bolts. Soaking them with PB Blaster or other rust penetrating products overnight will also help.
