Fuel Filter

Does a 49 8N have a fuel filter like a car? If so, where is it at?

There should be a screen in the top of the fuel bowl if it has one. Also if memory serves me right the old fords had a screen in the fitting where the fuel comes out of the tank. It's been a while since I've messed with the fords though.

Had you actually posted this in one of the (2) ford forums you would likely have had 30 correct answers by now.

OEM, the N came with 3 filters.

A 'finger' shaped screen atop the tank tap, a round disc shaped screen in the glass bowl under the tap, and then another small screen attached to the fitting elbow at the carb.

Its jsut as Sound say unless of course some one removed one of more of them. I have seen a good number of them where one or more have been removed over the years and that will cause problem if some one did so
