Fuel for John Deere D

Theres not many that run Kerosene nowadays but I've been around a few and the smell is sure noticeable, I kinda enjoyed it. I wouldnt say it "hurts" to run on gas although perhaps (NOT a fuel expert) kerosene has some better degree of lubricity then gas may have???? If you were gonna put it in the field and work it long n hot n hard days and weeks at a time perhaps there is more advantage of Kerosene use but for parades and occassional use even for soem real farm work now n then I JUST DONT ENVISION ANY PROBLEM USING GAS ONLY

John T NOT a D fan (or fuel expert) so this is basically a worthless opinion, (like many here, mine included lol) but its my best shot

The only reason for the distillate was operating cost. It's a gas engine with modifications to intake + water injection to enable it to run on other fuel. You won't harm it a bit running on gas - one of my uncles broke land and farmed with a D and he always ran it on gas from new until he wore it out about 50 years later. RonMC

actually it will last longer on gas regardless of use, since the heavy fuels diluted the oil badly & caused pre ignition to some degree (hence the water injection) they burned dirtier & carboned up etc, due mainly to the low compression & incomplete burning of the heavy fuels in a spark ignition engine.
