Fuel gage problem

I"m trying to decide what is going on with my fuel gage. It seems to be reading fine but when I reduce the engine RPM to as low as possible, the fuel gage moves to full. When I increase RPMs, the gage goes back to its previous mark. Coincidently, the temp gage reads accurate while at an increased rpm, but when reduced to low as possible, it fluctuates between too hot (red) and mid range. Any ideas why my fuel gage behaves as it does and why my temp gage acts as a clock pendulum?

Sounds like a voltage problem. Had the same problem on an old car of mine when the altenator was in its final days. Just a thought.

You MAY have a bad ground between the tractor chassis, sheetmetal superstructure (dash area) and the battery due to rust or paint between the attachment points/bolts.

Try a temporary jumper between a CLEAN (paint-free) spot on the engine and a CLEAN spot on the dashboard and see if that straightens things out. If so, you'll need to clean things up and/or attach a permanent ground lead.

I suspect you have a ground problem on the cluster to the frame/hood. Check that out... Also check that you have full battery voltage to the back of the temp gauge and then check the voltage over to the fuel gauge. Might just be a loose wire...
