DB fuel injection pump replacement; Is there only two directions 180 vs 360 when dropping the pump in place on a jd1010c;
or will I need to mess with timing. I have not changed any settings; only took it apart and cleaned, and replaced new O rings etc.

Thanks, Brian

It should have had the timing set before it was removed. The 3000 and 4000 series use an offset drive shaft tang to HOPEFULLY get the pumps installed correctly, sadly that does not always work as it should. If I recall the pump you have does not have the offset tang.

hi dieseltech, my shaft has a flat screwdriver looking shape that fits into a channel shaped receiver that can only drop in 180 or 360 to keep time.
i have not rotated the shaft so it should remain in the original time i hope...

Hello Brian, welcome to YT! What is “took it apart”? Did you pull the hydraulic head (round metal part) out of the aluminum part? Pretty hard to go that far and never turn the pump. If you went that far and didn’t replace the governor weight cage flex ring you have made a foolish error. And it would be real hard to do that without turning the pump. I hope you know what it means for the tang to be offset as Dieseltech pointed out. If it is centered you have two shots at it. Wish you all the luck.

Since he had the pump apart, there's another slotted drive where the shaft meets the rotor that will fit either way, to the O.P., did you know there's timing marks there and did you heed them?

Heeded them, I believe I did; tried to be aware of any marks and took pictures.
While it was coming apart, I noticed parts missing: vent wire in the rotor, and valve delivery in rotor shaft.
Do some of these pumps come without these parts?
I am going to reassemble everything and see if it works.

You said you had the pump apart, you can put the cam ring in backwards and also the ring in the ring in the vane pump. Both are marked CC and CCW and have to be installed the right way.

I have everything in order; except for the vent wire in the rotor, and valve delivery in rotor shaft, those two items were not in the unit at disassembly. Brian
