FX 42 Power Steering

I have a FX42 and the power steering is getting worse. It is now taking approx. 2 turns to get it started turning and then it is over steering. Is it possibly the power steering pump...Help.....this tractor is dangerous the way it is......would appreciate any help. Thanks

you are going to have to troubleshoot. No one can answer that from a distance. What is the next thing that happens when you turn the wheel, and why does it happen?

This is out of an FX24D manual. I suspect yours is very similiar.

Nothing happens , it finally turns after a couple of turns and then it is too much(over steers) and I have to correct. You can rev the motor up higher and it turns better and quicker.....

where can you buy parts to fix power steering pump or a new pump.

"Nothing happens , it finally turns ". What finally turns? You must determine if mechanical or hydraulic.

1)- When you turn the wheel is there anything mechanically moving? Is the steering cylinder moving, for example?

2)- Do you have a loader on your tractor or any other modifications from the factory setup?

3)- Has it always done this or it just started after you ___________?

yes, the steering wheel and shaft is moving

yes there is a loader on the tractor.

I have had the tractor for a couple of years and only use at the hunting camp to mow, plant food plots, The rest of the time it sets in the shed. It is one of the grey market tractors that they rebuilt, put loaders on and I guess they shipped them here from Japan. I thought that maybe the steering was a little sloppy to begin with but now I cant hardly steer it to doing anything. it is all over the place. A mechanic said something that the pistons maybe need repacking, whatever that means, so I am lost. I am sure it is the power steering pump. I checked the hydraulic fluid and it is ok. The front end loader works and the rear lift works even though it seems slow...Thanks for your help....Do you sell power steering pumps for this model....
