My 550 came with a 30lb aftermarket oil pressure gauge. WHo ever put it on, didn't bother to cut the tube to length--they just curled it up. I knew there must be some loss of pressure to the gauge with that much tube, but was surprised when I took out 2' of line, cold idle went from 12 lbs to 18. About 3lbs per foot. More than what I would have guessed. SO for those with aftermarket gauges on anything. Is your tubing the same length as factory? If not your pressure will be different.

I hope your talking that junky plastic stuff. I put my gauge on the oil filter housing works prefect. I do like the steel or copper line if a dash mount.

Back in the mid 70s everyone had a gas mileage gauge in their cars. A friend of mine had one installed after we rebuilt his Buick. It made a terrible screeching noise when we test drove the car. After a little poking around I saw the plastic line from the intake quivering when he backed off of the pedal. The line was collapsing at high vacuum

I put a T right at the base of the filter on my diesel so I had the gauge light as well as a gauge. I would be very happy with 18 psi!
