G carb cleaning

I have a pretty rusted carb from a JD G, would sandblasting be an ok approach?
Yep if you do it before you do a complete rebuild it should be fine leave all the plugs in until you are done clean it out with compressed air then pull the plugs and do a full rebuild. I usually paint them as well before rebuild let them dry awhile then rebuild you can see all the nice shiny brass new plugs and if you spring for them the stainless idle and load screws

I prefer glass bead blasting on carbs after a good soaking in purple power and a hot water rinse. Gets off any oil residue and the beading is easier to get cleaned out. Don't bead the brass parts.

I borrowed a friends ultrasonic cleaner for one I'm working on right now for a 620. I was seriously impressed how clean it got it with nothing but dawn dish soap and water in the bath.
