G226 Starter Interchange

I am new to the Allis Chalmers world having just purchased a Gleaner E. The engine on the combine came without a starter and I am looking to get one. I have an original core that is no good (busted nose, armature shaft broken)so I am looking for a complete unit. The price of a new rebuilt will be half the price I paid for the whole combine! Does anyone know of any newer starters that will interchange with the origianl Delco 1107695?

Many of those combines are scrapped and the good engines are put in tractors. So it seems like there ought to be a surplus of those starters out there somewhere. Combine graveyard?

I have a good starter that came with a complete Gleaner E power unit. I'm going to put the engine in a WD45 so I don't need the starter. Email if you are interested, I'll sell it for a reasonable price.

There is a Gleaner E Starter in the Parts Section of yesterday"s photo ads about 200 to 250
for $50.00. Hope this will help.
