galvanized metal

The fuek tank on my Allis Chalmers 190xtd is galvanized metal (at least it looks like it under the peeling orange paint) I've been using paint stripper and 3M disking all the other parts down to bare metal. What/how do I prep the fuel tank that has paint on galvanized metal. Then when I do paint do I used epoxy paint over the galvanized (if the is any galvanized left from prepping). Or do I strip the galvanized off then paint epoxy.

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, I'm not very good at searching archives...I don't even know how to...

thank you very much.

Here's a link to a previous thread regarding galvanized metal prep and epoxy primer.

To search the archives look at the column on the left of your screen, under Research & Info look for "Search this site", click on this and it will take you to the search page where you type in keywords such as "galvanized metal" or "painting galvanized metal". Once this is typed in hit enter and a list of threads will come up. Then all you need to do is click on the thread you want to read. You can also select where you want to search, i.e. Ford Forum; Antique Tractor Paint and Bodywork etc. When you learn this you can even search by contributor. Play with the system and learn how to use it and most or your questions will be answered.
