I know this is small potatoes, but ya'll offered help so I should give update.
Got all new ignition parts.
Replaced plug wire because it is easy and I haven't replaced it before.
Started and I used it for an hour no problem.
Shut it off and tried restart; no-go.
Check for spark; no spark.
Replace condenser; no spark.
Check for spark at points; no spark.
Replace coil; started right up.
Parked it.
I was really hopeful the plug wire was the solution because it is the only thing I haven't already replaced before.
I am pessimistic that replacing the coil fixes the problem. I've replaced the coil several times already but I'll let it play out.
The old coil resistance measurements are almost identical to the new one. (3.5 between posts/10k from post to high side.) I can try to heat it up and retest to validate it's condition but I'm betting it will test ok. I'm wondering if I have a bad ground somehow. I can investigate that I guess.
Anyway, the saga may continue or maybe it is over. My thanks for all the helpful hints on this. Michael
