Gasoline1520 with Loader

A JD 1520 gas engine with JD loader is being offered locally. I could use a loader tractor of that size, but I haven't cranked a gasoline engined tractor in nearly 40 years, so am a little dubious about getting bogged down in "analog" distributors, points, plugs, etc. when all of today's gasoline engines are "digital", so to speak.

I'd appreciate any comments, warnings, or praise on the 1520, as well as on its gasoline engine and operating/maintenance issues. THANKS!

Dad bought a new 1520 gas in the early 70’s. We still have it on the farm. It got used pretty much daily for our dairy operation through the mid 80’s. That gas engine always started easy on the coldest days. We never had to do any major repairs to it. Just maintenance, starter, fuel pump, and things like that. If you work it hard it will burn fuel. I think it would go through 5 gal/hr when we occasionally used it on the silo blower. Very maneuverable, great for spotting wagons. Good little tractor.
