Gator squeaky brakes

I have a John Deere Gator 6x4 about five years old. It is working just great, but the brakes have always been quite noisy, even when it was brand new. Does anyone here know why this is so? I have read in the manual that the brakes are not located on the wheels, so how does one adjust or lubricate them so that they are not so noisy?

Thanks for any helpful comments.

i have a cx new small version gator type. the thing squaked for ever until i finally found out that it had a hinge part in the middle of the thing up in under the front seats. they make a product call brake quite. you might spray them with that. never been into the brakes on one, but if the are like regular brakes you might lub with high temp grease any metal parts that touch. my dodge truck brakes squak bad first thing ever moring until i warm them up. i think they absorb moisture over night. you may have to try some after market brakes of a different material.

saddly the cx gator brakes are nothing like that of a 6x4. The 6x4 brakes are housed in the transmission and are not servicable from the outside. They are a wet brake(run in oil) and can be extremely noisy. I sugest going to your deere dealer and asking about new brakes. this does of coarse involve removing the trans and splitting it. the new brakes are make of different material and are quieter, but are not an absolute fix. many time when I put these in, they will squeek after a year or so of use.
