Gauge Glass JD 60 1952

I have two broken gauges on a JD 60, water temp & Oil PSI. The gauges work good & are original just the glass front is broken or cracked. I have searched around on the internet to see if any one has just the Glass lens for sale & i have not found any. Any one else had this problem? Do you know where to get those lenses. I really do not what to replace the gauges becouse they work & are original. Thanks For you help.

There's a feller who advertises in 2 Cyl mag (Jerry Trcka, not sure of last name) who may be able to supply just glass lens. Seems that those gauges would be hard to get apart just to replace lens.

Yes it is vary tricky to work on the gauges.
Yes I did contact Jerry but he said he did not sell parts any more. I was trying to get my restoration done before Chrismas but that might be a problem now. I did not yet resort pleading with Jerry for the parts, but it might have to come to that.

A glass shop should be able to cut some lens. Wonder if the originals are of any special grade of glass to prevent breakage for minor hits??

Parts, the man is in buss of repairing and restoring, do both of you a favor, he will put the new glass in and you will be satisfied and it will be done with. Tell him that is all you want done. Hes a swell fellow and i am sure he will help you and theirs no way you can match his work. Sounds like you are into cutting corners, hows the restoration coming??

Do you have any old junk gauges around with good glass? You can work around the gauge with a screwdriver and unwrap the the ring that holds the glass in. The same ring can be reused by carefully and evenly pinching the ring back on with pliers.

Hi
I have used eyeglass lenses in either glass or plastic to repair gauges. the only thing is that they are convex.Glass lenses make a mag light great.
Try an optician and tell him what you need and maybe he will give you a deal. they are made in plano,no power and can be cut to any diameter

What kind of restoration includes old gauges with hacked up glass frames? If it's worth doing, do it right as they say. Call Jerry at EverGreen Restorations and put some quality in your restoration. Your going to look at them every time you get on the tractor.

The only thing I can think of right now is a plastic flashlight lense, which is not OK in my book. I have seen round glass lenses of various sizes and I'm scratching my head trying to remember where I saw them. Maybe some lab supply company or something like that. Jim
