GB in MT Help

Ok so I know its taken me a while.. but I just got time to work on my Carberator. I took it all apart again and cleaned all of the passageway in you pics.. I used wire and PB Blast and Air.. Put the cab all back together and fired her up.. Let me tell you she Idles like a dream. When I give it throttle or need power it starts poping out of the air intake of the carb and the exhaust.. I really took my time and was very carefull. I am out of ideas and money.. This is the last thing before I can get some real good much needed seat time! Do you need a new carb?

before you buy a new carb, have you checked compression to see if you have a sticky valve etc.., other possibilities include bad plug wires shorting out (check your firing order and check wires for deterioration). if you went through the carb, did you replace the throttle rod seals? if they are letting too much air in it plays H E double hockey sticks with the air fuel mixture. try holding the choke and idling up--does it still pop? always try the simple stuff first.

Well first off you used the wrong stuff to spray the carb out with. You need true carb cleaner to spray a carb out with and also some good carb cleaner to soak your carb in. From what you have said your main jet passageways are still clogged up. One thing to try is open up the main jet and see if you can get black smoke out the exhaust. Keep opening it till you do or you go so far as being able to pull it out. If you can pull it out and it still runs then you did in fact miss something and you need to open it up again. I like Gary have been rebuilding carbs for a long time and it is easy to miss something and that is why Gary tests his carb rebuilds on his own tractor

GB told me to use PB Blast. I have used both and seems PB breaks up rust and other materials better.. Carb and Choke cleaner are better with bad or gel'd up gas.. But thanks for the advise.. GB in MT is helping me thought this..

Im gonna try a carb that I know is good to prove or rule it out. Then I will proceed with electrical from there. Thanks so much for your help!

GB and I have talked about carbs on and off and he has even at one time gotten a carb or 2 from me so as to have extra parts on hand. I have never heard him say to use PB but I could see how it might help if you had one that was real rusty. Turpentine will also work well on rust

Old;
I use PB Blaster on almost ALL my overhauls now. Waste of money, buying that watered down Carb. cleaner, unless you have already cleaned out the passages......PB also softens up dirt cloggs and spider cocoons, for clogged carbs, that have been sitting for a long time!!!!
Kinda like usin' ATF on stuck rings and valves. LOL
