Gary, I finally checked the thermostat in Maggie, yep, tie wrap gone and thermostat up at rad end of hose. It was still working tho> Lucky me!!

All is well now with steel hose clamp instead of plastic tie wrap.

Used a fence stretcher block and tackle to lift hood and just filled gas tank. Worked real good.

Won't do that again!!
Thanks!!

Bob;
Glad ya checked on it.!!!, and yeh, you are lucky, it didn't do to you, like mine did, on Hermie!!!! If the thermo., turns cocked, like it did on Hermie....the coolant don't do too much coolin'!!!!
The new rings I installed seem to be holding good........SO FAR!!! Just holding my breath, that the sleeves are OK in the bores. Gonna Hate it if I have to re-do the re-do to just replace those sleeves. Savin' my schekles up for a new set,....just in case.!!!!! :shock:
Didn't have enough $$'s to do the sleeves when I did this last go-round!!!

If I have to un-button Hermies engine again....I'll be REALLY "pithed" at my-self!!!!!!!! :x

Sounds like your thermo. didn't boil Maggie's rings!!! :wink:
LUCKY you!!!!! 8)

'R', hope you used an SS hose clamp. Salt influenced background air and hugh-miditty will wreck out a regular clamp in a short time. HTH
