GBD battery

Does anyone know what size of battery I will need to buy for this GBD that I just bought ?

If you are going with the original set up I believe there were 3 batteries on them. (that can get spendy nowdays). I think MM used the "shorter height" long batteries, the 3EE. The 3EH and 3ET batteries are about an inch taller. If you are installing a battery cover on the inner battery by the fuel tank the shorter height battery works the best. As far as cranking amps Im not sure what size you will need. Alot of people just put one big battery in rather than 3. (I shouldnt tell you that because I make battery covers for them lol).

The GBD had three of the lower height batteries originally. On my GBD I bought a large twelve volt battery that takes up the same amount of room as two of the three original batteries. I positioned it to the outside of the battery tray and clearance is not a problem. I believe it cost around $100.00. The lower height batteries on my U diesel,which only has two, are at least $70.00 each. The one large battery on the GBD starts the tractor just fine.

The brief time I had a GBD I checked with NAPA. If I remember right, it should be 3 EE batteries (not sure memory dont serve me right). You can put a batt for a Cat on it. Has 50 more CA and is only 1 batt. I think the GBD requires 1150 CA.

The 8D cat type battery works good ,and does away with lots of cables.

If you have room for it the first generation Dodge Cummins Diesel Pick-Ups used a single Group 31. it is a pretty good hoss. Spins my M5 Diesel pretty good.
