Gear reduction starter

I am looking into my options on a starter for my Moline GVI with a HD800 engine. I would like to find a gear reduction starter that will fit without major modification. I heard somewhere that one from a Ford 7.3 diesel will work, but I'm not sure which year or any other details of the conversion. I would just like a lighter more powerful starter. Any helpful info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Delco 44MT with 8.5KW or the Delco 39MT with 6.4KW.

Would this be a bolt on deal? There seem to be a lot of different starter part #s in the 39MT family. Does it matter which one?

I suppose so.
There are various pinion gear tooth numbers and pitch versions.
Rotation is important.
There are at least three different mounting bolt patterns too.
