Gehl 1850 baler

I have Gehl 1850 with TDC and Im having issue of bale not wanting to start rolling. I have adjusted the fingers to factory setting according to manual. I have adjusted gate roller. When bale dont start to roll, I havent payed attention to see if platform belt is turning or slipping. If this is the case how do I adjust it. Last year, it operated fine. This year I have been catching it with this baler but once it get turning its good. Im not sure on how to adjust the TDC for belt tension.
 
Actually, you don't want the belts too tight to start a bale. On the later models they put threaded rod through angle irons up on top in front to back the rack off so they won't go too tight. It's been years since I messed with one of those old 50 series, but I think there's just an adjusting bolt down on each side to tighten the table belt.

Make sure your packing roller is adjusted properly. It should be just a quarter inch off the table belt. Too high and you'll have trouble starting a bale. You starter fingers are dropping down for sure then? I've had those stick up before. Had to clean everything up and put heat to the pivots to get the old hard grease loosened up.
 

I looked at packing roller yesterday and it do look higher than 1/4" from belt. How do I adjust the packing roller? I see on both sides there is U bolt for adjustment. I also notice in the manual that there is suppose to be spring on the left side of baler for tension. It is missing.
 
It's been 25 years since I've worked on a 50 series. That missing spring could have something to do with it. Doesn't it say in the
manual how to adjust the roller?

I adjust packer roller and doing great now. Knock on wood!!
Another question of this baler, how do make adjustment to keep belts from moving side to side and twisting like in pic. Im trying upload video to forum.

Speaking generically about belt balers in general, one of the rollers should be adjustable on one end for "tracking." On my Deere baler it's the rearmost bottom roller on the gate. Of course that doesn't help you with your Gehl. You said you had a manual right? Should tell you how to adjust belt tracking.

It looks like all your belts are at the extreme to one side. Definitely needs a tracking adjustment. Probably what's causing the belt to flip too, though that half-torn lacing isn't helping.
 
I've just recently purchased this exact baler and I got a question about the TDC system. Was able to make a bail and eject it and then when I close the hatch the cylinders of the TDC system didn't retract at all and my belts are really loose. I checked the PSI and it was only like around 3:00 so I added some air but it only made it up to 75 psi. I also did notice that the transmission oil was low on it so I'm wondering is it possible that the only thing wrong with it is the oil level? This also sat for 5 years before I purchased it.
 
Are you talking about the oil in that can on the side? If so, let the pressure off and take out the brass relief valve. Put the oil in there. Fill it an inch or more above the full line because it'll go down when the air pressure increases. There should be a gauge on the valve that flips when the bale gets to a certain size, so watch that. If you have a good air compressor, you should be able to get it pumped up to 120 pounds, if your compressor will go that high. But ya, your belt rack won't come all the way forward if you don't have enough air pressure in that tank. Check the oil level again after you use it a little. You might have to add again. Mine lost oil somewhere and I had to refill it three or four times before I finally got the oil level to stay up in the middle of the decal where it should be.

Yeah that oil reservoir. Think It be worth just draining it all maybe it got some air in the lines too?
