Hi All,
I posted here a while back about a Gehl 1865 round baler I purchased. I made 75 first cutting bales with it, and it worked great. Now I'm getting ready to start second cutting, and I'm wondering if there's any tricks to making good bales out of the shorter hay. It seems like the shorter material wouldn't wrap into a round bale as well, without losing a lot of the crop. It's the first round baler I've ever owned.
Also, the twine wrap is manual, controlling a hydraulic cylinder back and forth across the bale to guide the twine. Is there any particular pattern I should be following when I wrap the bale? Should I wrap second cutting bales differently, maybe more wraps to hold the shorter material together so I don't lose it?
