generator issue

It cranks fine, just wasn't getting fuel. I cranked and cranked for over 5 seconds after having shut it off from running for 30 minutes waited 10 seconds and tried to start back up, but it would not run, wasn't getting fuel. Engine was plenty warm, at normal operation temperature, fuel not gelled (I could see it clean liquid in the water separator bowl, and there was no water nor debris in the bottom of it either). There's got to be something in the electronics control panel that's shutting off fuel flow through the injector pump when it's freezing temperatures outside. The generator is in an enclosure and mounted on a trailer, but even with the doors closed, it doesn't heat up the inside of that box enough for the electronics to get warm (which is good for hot summer days). I did have a problem with the oil pressure switch a few years ago, but with that, it would start and run for about 10 seconds then shut off because it thought there wasn't oil pressure. I put a new sensor in and it ran fine after that, but this new problem is not starting at all on freezing days even though the battery is strong and cranks over with plenty of speed that it would run if it were getting fuel.

You have said you think it is a problem with the fuel shutoff system and you say it is not getting fuel; I don't see you say have tested anything. How did you confirm no fuel? Did you crack and injector line? Have you found the electric fuel shutoff on the pump and tested for power to it when turned on and again when cranking? Have you tested the oil pressure switch? Even if you changed yesterday, it could be bad today. Tests should be done at the shutoff and work back from there. If you did test give the result, that is better than saying it is not getting fuel, we will know then what you are basing your statement on for facts.

After some testing, you could put a heat lamp inside the enclosure, near the panel, with a low temp thermostart to turn the lamp on at say 35 degrees and below and see what that does for it. It could be a loose connection or cracked solder joint among other things.

Is it auto or manual start? Do you have the schematic diagrams for it to follow the wiring back from the fuel shutoff into the panel?

@TheBartman47

I will say this is a case where you should have started your own thread on your generator rather than hijacking Ellis Kinney's thread which is a different no start problem than your generator has. JMHO

Yes, I replied to questions that kept coming so it took off on it's own, no intention of hijacking this thread.
Questions came to you because you replied (post 13) to a starter issue question with a fuel issue you have not a starter issue as Ellis posted about., Yours will crank even if it doesn't start, his won't crank long enough to start. The hi-jacking is partly our fault, me included by not suggesting you start a new thread right back at that point. Everyone wants to help each other and often the original poster gets lost on the process.

I have a Generac house generator. When trying to start the starter engages and cranks for about a second and stops. The battery is good. Any suggestions?? Thanks, Ellis
Generac good or bad aside. Have you found the problem or has this gone so far off your issue that you are still hanging?
