generator maintenance

There is an oiler for the bushing on the commutator end. The bearing on the pulley end is sealed.

I would disassemble, clean inspect, and likely replace both bearing, bushing and brushes.

I spray Amsoil MP behind the pulley and on idler pulleys and such. It works for a while and another thing it does is tell you for sure which bearing (or belt ?) is squeeling; i.e., if the noise stops immediately then you've located the offender.

P.S.
Also, after that a drop or two of 80/90 applied while the armature is spinning, works wonders on an aged bearing.
