generator problems

I have a 52 VAI that the generator went bad. I have a spare generator but the one on the tractor has 2 wires to it and the spare one only has 1 wire. HOw do I connect it. it is a 6 volt positive ground system.

If I read it right then I hook the wire to the ammeter to the generator and the other wire that is currently going to the generator I do not need
