generator /stumped

Need some help.
48 TE20 Had the Lucas generator checked.
New bearings, cleaned up .
Told it was charging.

Have it on.
" Flashed " the unit.
Have checked all the wiring, connections etc.
New battery
Charging light goes out once the tractor idles up.
How ever if I pull the battery cable loose when running the tractor will stop running.
Showing a slight charge across the terminals.
Is there a way to check just the generator output on the tractor.
other then the battery terminals ?
Armature to ?
Could the problem be the regulator?
If so what to look for?

Have read old posts but not seeing a way to check.

Thanks in advance.

my 23C has Lucas generator

I put a voltmeter on the outer generator post

if I feed 12v to that smaller inner post I get max output on the outer post, voltage varies with rpms, have to watch out for overcharging

Have the throttle up about 1/2 and it still stalls.

No one local can test a 6 volt generator.
Might have to take it about an Hr. away. drive.
That's why I'm wondering if it could be regulator related.
Points stuck ,etc.

Disconnect the D and F leads on the dynamo.
Put a jumper cable between the D and F terminals on the dynamo.
Connect a voltmeter between the now joined together terminals and chassis ground.
Start the tractor, the voltmeter will read voltage and the voltage will climb way above the rated voltage as you increase engine speed. If ok then dynamo o.k.
Re-connect the D and F leads on the dynamo, and move the jumper cable to the D and F leads at the regulator after disconecting them from the regulator, repeat the test on the D and F leads at the regulator, if the same then dynamo and leads o.k.
