Generic Replacement Tool Batteries

Hi
Was wondering what your experience was for those that have purchased generic replacement tool batteries that are sold on places like EBAY and AMAZON.
The pricing is usually half of the brand name which
usually come from the same places, China or Taiwan.
Thanks

I bought some factory new sealed in the box (Look exactly the same as Lowes or Menards boxes) 18V batteries for my DeWalt on Flea Bay for wayyyyyyyy less the Lowes prices and they work fine.

Ive taken some to Interstate Battery and they replaced the internal batteries and they also worked fine.

I can not guarantee all are the same, perhaps the ones at Lowes are better??? which I doubt but no data to back that up, but Ive had no problem with what Interstate Battery rebuilt or I bought on Flea Bay.

Of course, the Amp Hr type of ratings need to be considered so you compare apples to apples!!

I just replaced the batteries in a cordless vacuum, it wasn't easy or cheap but we really liked it and it was just loosing power. It works well now and the new batteries have more capacity so that will be nice. I am planning on doing my drill today, it should be easier. We ordered the batteries from Amazon (free shipping) 24 sub C's 2200 ma, $56. They have solder tabs and I found some good soldering advice on the web.

I needed to replace the 18v Ni-Cad battery for my Milwaukee drill. Did search 2.4 Amp ni-cad $98 but 3 amp NI MH was $55 . More power less money, made in China No problem.

I bought AA metal batteries at the "Battery Store" cause they are just down the street. Now the ones I purchased were the same ones on flea bay and they only cost one dollar more and no shipping. NOW if I have any trouble they are just down the street. They do honor their stuff and it is fun to shoot the breeze with them a little.
They assemble the special battery packs for the state of NJ that power the water level monitor stations. Boy what a mess of lithium D size cells! Just my opinion but I have purchased a couple of Canon camera battery packs on bay and they work fine as long as you purchase the originals. You are correct in that almost all of these come from china. I purchased a very nice shortwave radio about two months ago and it will recharge the cells. Went to the local "Battery Store" and the metal lithium work fantastic! Only have charged them twice in almost two months of radio use! Jeffcat

I used to work for a place that used a lot of Milwaukee 3v screwdrivers for assemblers. They tossed out some perfectly functional ones and a whole lot of the worn out NiCD batteries. I would open up the pack and replace the batteries with the china jobs off the 'bay for 10 cents on the dollar. Most worked fine but what I did NOT know was when installing a new NiCD you should not charge it first thing (which is what I did a number of times). You should use it and run it down before the first charge. I read that this greatly extends their life and it seems to work. Any else heard this?
