Getting my ducks in a row

For an alternator conversion on my 3000.
Been 2 years with No wires or tach on it whatsoever. Did have an mechanical OP gauge till Kenny stole it recently.
The tach drive should be on it's way - thanks RickB.
So I have a couple of questions now and likely will have others.
I have a pretty good used wiring harness here from a 3000 so I was going to reuse most of it in the new system.
Unrap it and add/subtract wires as needed then rewrap it with old fashioned friction tape.
I want the plug to remain in the harness so a guy can unplug the two halves for a split if needed.
1) Will the original idiot light work in a 3 wire alt system? It's about 5w iirc.
2) Rod and Bern, this new Sparex tach does have a voltage stabilizer on it. So as per my question from the other day, can I just change to a 3000 V stab if needed? Reuse the original senders?
Automotive electrics are not my forte. I'd rather split both ends of the 8 sp tranny for main shaft bearings than do this.

RE: voltage stabilizer:

If it has bi-metal gauges, then yes, you need it, leave it on. If the gauges are magnetic, take it off. Since the cluster came with a voltage stabilizer, I am inclined to think the gauges are bi-metal, which frankly surprises me, as it's 1940's technology.

How to tell? Magnetic gauges move very quickly with the key turned on, and tend to float at random with the key off. Bi-metal gauges move very slowly when the key is turned on, and move very slowly to full left when the key is turned off.

Your original senders should work just fine.

I would use the existing wires you have... You would need to run a battery wire to the alt,,, from there wire it up with what you have... You will need to use/jumper the wires at the regulator ,you are going to take them out of play any ways. You will need to use a different bulb socket for the gen/alt light you need a socket that uses two wires...

Far as I know the senders don't care its the dash gauge that the voltage regulator protects.. Does the new one have a place for the regulator...

The only wiring diagram I have Tractors with "C" prefixed serial numbers... 6 connectors at regulator and 2 at the gen is this what you have...

Whats the part # on your new cluster...

take the wl lead off of the regulator(old one) and extend it to the alternator little spade lug 1.

you can splice the two heavy wires at the old reg to get the output wire to feed through to battery.
( since the alt puts out more than 22amps, I just run a new wire from the output of the alternator to the main battery lug at the starter.

Then you may have to jump the small lug 2 to the output at the alternator for voltage sense.

your done.
