I have no experience with the FERGUSON "HYDRAULIC COVER LIFTING" tool:

As per pictures, I had to fab a tool, it worked fine...It's not pretty..Neighbour has it this week:

Yes I remember using those tools but it was many many years ago when I worked for a Massey Ferguson dealer here in the UK. As I remember the tools were made by a company called VL Churchill who made all of the service tools used by MF dealers at that time and the pull back tool that bolted to the seat mounting studs was telescopic to allow the tube to form a stand for the upturned cover.

The hinge bracket was designed to be used to lift the rear of the top cover to break the joint before lifting the cover, this feature also helped when lowering the cover back on reassembly. Two guiding on studs were fitted to bolt holes on the transmission casing (I don't remember the correct length) one each side of the joint just to the rear of the cover for the stand pipe, with the new gasket in place the cover was lowered and allowed to rest on the studs. The next step was to lift the hinge bracket raising the hydraulic cover level and allowing it to drop over the guide studs and fall neatly into place ready for bolting down and final assembly.

Hope this makes sense Ray.

If we agree at 600 lbs. to a cubic foot as per material HYD. Cover is made from.....cover is less than 200 lbs. as I handle the cover ONCE COVER IS REMOVED from TRACTOR.....hand placed cover in work Vise:
I always use 1/2 ton chain hoist.....cover weighs less than 200 lbs..... but is as Awkward as old Hel1 to handle!
