Gleaner K Hydraulics

Guys,

What type of fluid goes in the hydraulic system on a gleaner k? Have a hose leaking hydraulic fluid and thought it was supposed to have transmission fluid in it... Which is correct and if it is transmission fluid what type? Also, how many quart or gallons does it take to fill?

Automatic transmission fluid (ATF). Dextron II if I remember right - same as GMC/Chevy trucks. Don't remember exactly how much it holds, I always had a case on hand, but I think somewhere around 6 quarts.

Dextron is correct be sure head is lowerd when checking it

I was wondering the same thing. When I bought my machine a while back, it had a jug of transmission fluid back by the motor and figured it was for the hydraulics. My valve body leaks bad.
