Gleaner K Questions

I recently purchased a 1976 Gleaner K, and need a chopper belt for it. Does anyone know of a good place to get reasonably prices belts for these old machines?

I am also looking for a grain head for the combine. If anyone has a good 12' head, let me know. I have found two heads, but they both have variable speed reels, and the combine does not have this control. Will this work? I am assuming the reel will just run at the slowest speed.

One of the heads has a Hart-Carter floating cutter bar, but does not appear to have the fingers or control cable for the header height control? Should it have that, or is it not needed with the floating cutter bar?

Thanks for any help anyonone can provide.

Jaydee belts. I believe there in Ohio. Google it and you will find a page that has the AC #s to cross with ther belt #s. They ship fast, have good belts, and are pleasant to deal with.

Yes. As you guessed, the headers will work, you just won't be able to increase reel speed. However the little pulley on the end of the auger that drives the reel drive may be the same on all those headers- I can't remember. It's two steel sheave halves bolted to a cast hub with three bolts. They can be switched and effectively change that pulley diameter.
As far as header height control- floating cutter bar, etc.- There were "afterthoughts", after-market, and add-ons etc. Almost any combination of features was possible- including header height control on a rigid header, lift assist springs on the cylinders, nitrogen charged hyd. accumulator, etc. etc.
