I am helping a neighbor with a older Gleaner K that he just purchased. It was sitting for quite some time, and it was not run.
I am looking for some information in order to get started.,There are two serial numbers, one located on the left rean of the machine #KKS17978,and one in the cab #5756914692.Can anyone tell me what year this machine is based on those two numbers? What motor is used as it is a GM 6 cylinder. And where I could find a wiring diagram,as the wiring looks like a bowl of spagetti.....I found a operators manual on line ,is there something else available that would help me?
Thanks,any help would be appreciated.

The engine is a 250 Chevy. Tell the guy at the auto parts store you have a chevy pickup so you don"t get the deer in the headlights look. The KKS number is the serial number for the machine. They were made from 1969 to 1976. Owners manual has a electrical schematic in the back.

What size battery should we put in this machine. At this time we are just attempting to get the engine started. We are unsure until we get a manual of how much of this machine is run with electric motors ,relays, switches ,etc.So at this point we need to know how big of a battery is needed.Any information I did find on the internet just states 12 volts.
Any help someone can give me would be great.
