Glenn Roberts welder?

Who else has one of these? Seen one mentioned in another post down below. I have one and it works great as a farm shop welder. I bought a second one for 20 bucks at a sale but have never seen another. Know what years they were made? Welds much nicer than the AC Lincoln 225 that I was using. Mike

I'm usually in 160-200 amp range with 7014 on 1/2inch plate and thicker AC. On DC Its closer to 120-150 with 7018 reverse polarity . 7014 seems to take more to make it penetrate in than DC does Probably the rod more than the amperage. AC I seldome use less than about 130 and Dc never less than abot 60-70 for things with 6011 or 7018 Maybe even some 6013 rarely. Never heard of a Glenn-Roberts welder then there are lots of things I've never heard of.

Yes, I so happen to have my late fathers Glenn Roberts 220 arc welder. Really works great with 1/8" 7018 rod, some of my old Pals out West here are very impressed with the performance this here welder has done, corse I was welding with my father before I started High School in 1968'.

Those old welders had copper windings & maybe were over built. But they did a good job.

This is my Glenn Roberts, it was a gift from a landlady at one time, it weighs a ton but works well for farm welding

Looks like mine is a little bigger, model 35 maybe that is why it is able to strike an arc so well with 100 foot plus leads on it. The extra I picked up is a model 25 but the tag looks like it may have been sand blasted. Mike
