Golden Jubilee pto

I thought my Golden Jubilee had a live PTO, but the recently purchased brush hog seems to have proven otherwise. I can't engage (or disengage) it separately from the transmission. Is there something wrong here, or do I need to find an overrunning clutch? If so, are these easy to find and install? It's was not a little unnerving to push in the clutch, take the tractor out of gear and push the brake only to have it keep on going even though I stood on the brakes. Thanks for any help and suggestions.

The overrunning clutch is your best bet. It will save on your nerves and you can stay seated while applying the brakes. They can be found at most equipment stores, run about $35-$50. Easy to install.
Be careful and good luck....

The Jubilees never did have a live PTO from the factory. So yep thats normal and you need an ORC. Easy to install. Has a roll pin you drive in and then put in a grease zirk and blind plug and your done with it

If you were out of gear.. you should have been fine with using the breaks.. When the trans is in neutral, there is no axle connection to
the pto. If there was, you'd never be able to use the tractor for stationary power.

In any case.. as others said.. you need an ORC.. and naa live pto was a rare add on kit..

On 2nd thought.. maybee ya got a sticky clutch too.. and driveline was stayin' attached to the engine.. course.. neutral still fixes that...
