Where do y'all get good quality parts. I recently bought a tune up kit for my 9N. Was not impressed with the quality. Distributor cap didn't fit well, neither did the rotor. Autolite 85 plugs? parts just "felt cheep.

A New Holland dealer or as I do I get a lot of parts from O'Relly's auto parts. Sadly many parts come from the land of almost right so not very good. As fpr spark plugs I use NGK3112 plugs in many of my tractors like my 8N and my 841S

Like Old said, O'Reilly's or NAPA.
Standard or Blue Streak points = FD-6769X. condenser = FD-71, rotor = FD-104 (I think), cap = FD-126
NAPA'S part numbers in the Echlin line are: Points = CS-35, condenser = FA 200, rotor = FA 300 and the cap = FA 350.
I also have a note that says the tune up kit from this site uses premium Blue Streak points, rotor and condenser and feeler gauge.
The Autolite plugs you want are 437's

I've never had much luck with the auto lite plugs and that is why I say NGK3112 and I have never had problems with them

Spark plugs are spark plugs.
If they are gapped and installed properly, they all perform the same.
I change points on our 2N every spring with cheap $7,99 points whether they need it or not.
While I'm at it, I pull each plug for a cylinder evaluation. Clean and gap.
Our heavily utilized 2N gets new plugs every 12 -15 years.
Old, cleaned and properly gapped plugs work equal with new plugs.
They have a gap. A spark jumps the gap. It's not rocket science!
If you go on the chainsaw forums, posters wax on and on about plug replacement every other day.
We have 5 chainsaws that heat our home. Our main saw that we bought in 1980 is on its 2nd plug.
Clean it, gap it, saw wood.
Spark plugs are the most reliable, dependable aspect of our Ns.
DON'T waste money on plugs!

No exper with Ford 8 n ,these ive used other
Use YT for parts ,starter bendi
Local NAPA ,mag coils ,condenser

Andy’s local auto parts.
what suggestions I thought you might like to know.

I never have use on line for any electrical yet , anything I got on eBay in kits to over haul for Kohler k241,301 points never worked.

Not to start an argument, but my experience is different.
"Spark plugs are spark plugs" & chocolate cake is chocolate cake - but how it's made can make a big difference! 2 cooks can take the same recipe & one is great & one is disaster! I know that's an over-simplification, but I agree w/Old. I have had several new overseas made plugs simply stop firing & replaced w/NGKs that solved the problem.
"Old, cleaned and properly gapped plugs work equal with new plugs." Old quality checked parts are better than many new that are "almost right"!

I have NGK in all of my vehicles,a '88 Toyota truck,a '86 Nissan hardbody 4x4. They've both been running them for many years [maybe 8 years]. I also have them in my riding mower, five motorcycles,my Wife's Buick. I have a set for my '41n9,waiting for the Champion H-12s to show signs of trouble.

Old, I wasn't telling him that he should get the Autolite 437's I was just saying the the Autolite plug he needs is a 437 not the 85 that came in the kit.

My limited experience indicates that if you are buying new parts there are many sellers but I would guess only one foreign manufacturer for a specific part. You should anticipate that any new part may need a little tweaking or modifying to fit perfectly AND ALWAYS contact the seller if you have a problem with a part. My business has drifted towards the seller with the best customer service. They send me a large paper catalog every year!

Just for sake of setting some data with the plug argument. Outside the differences of material plugs which run hotter or cooler there is a resistance value between make of plugs. I have not experimented with my first fathead engine on my 8N. However I have seen the resistance values stack up between the wires and the plugs to cause miss fire and drivability issues in customers vehicles. Test it out and decide what works for you.
