Got some hay up

Been on vacation for a while, which was just about the time I should have been cutting hay. Lol. So this is a little later than I would have liked, but not bad, just a few alfalfa blooms. Used my 830 and 555 haybine to cut.

It was the first cutting on new seeding so there was some weeds, but it will be nice alfalfa/grass mix hay. The next day I ran over it with my 530 and case hay conditioner which helps it to dry. I like that better than a tender because we get rain so often that this leaves it in a row so if it dies rain there is less damage, but it still fluffs and crimps it so it dries better. This was pretty heavy hay and had a good amount of volunteer clover, but was cut Saturday and was dry to bale Monday. Thats not bad for how humid it is here.

Used the 830 and 281 rake to rake it.

Based with the 830 and 640 new Holland baler. Both worked great.

Got done just in time too, was raining 10 minutes after I closed the shed doors after putting things away. It's raining now and supposed to rain tomorrow and Friday, ill be cutting more after that.

Why do you have to crimp it after you cut it with a mower-conditioner? I recall running the crimper, but that was hay cut with a sickle mower. Back in the 1960s.
Does similar to a tender but doesn't spread it out. Here where we can get rain at any time this leaves the hay in a row so if it does rain there is less damage. Cuts drying time on alfalfa and clover by a day at least

I was driving pretty fast last evening to beat the rain drops. Only had 14 bales worth raked, but it was field rows and ditch banks and a small irregular swamp, time wasters.

Was planning on baling it today, but it was dried down pretty good in the breeze yesterday ahead of the unplanned showers.

Had to go out in the light showers and move the bales off the swamp, if more than half inch of rain it would be setting in water.

Was an overnight shower, more rain tomorrow, and so on. Can’t catch any dry spell to make hay again, like last year. Hurry up and bale it a little wettish….

Nice pics.
