Govenor Spring

ILL Turkey

New User
I get no response from the first quadrant of the throttle. Checked govenor spring. no tension at the idle position, infact it is loose. Ordered a new spring. Now i know this is basic, but I can not get the old one off and I concerned that if I do get it off how the heck am I going to get the new one on. Any suggestions

I have 9n with an 8n motor, front mount distributor. The sping i refer to is the heavy spring attached to the govenor and the arm that holds the lingage to the carb. Sorry for not being more clear in the first place

Ok. I've not had to replace that spring before. If I did, I would probably try using a brake tool. Perhaps someone else will chime in that's replaced one before.

Take the governor arm off, hook the spring into the hole and then reinstall the arm. The spring should have no slack or be under tension. Just sitting between the arms.
